My new book, Open to Emotion: How Acknowledging, Understanding, and Regulating Your Feelings Can Improve Your Mental Health is newly available from the American Psychological Association.

 

This book, available at the APA's website or via Amazon, aims to distill the sometimes complicated and jargon-filled science of emotion and emotion regulation into everday langauge. There is a rich science of emotion but much of it is stuck behind paywalls or written for academic audiences rather than for regular people. It also can be hard to figure out how the science can be used in daily life. This book is intended to fill that gap! I explain the science and use my experience as a teacher and a therapist to help you figure out how to use the science to improve your own emotional well-being.
