Experiencing a traumatic event is one of the most difficult things a person can navigate. Some people have dealt with repeated trauma over their lifetimes. Although many people are resilient in the face of trauma, others develop significant symptoms like being constantly attuned to threats (i.e., hypervigilance), flashbacks, nightmares, and other problems.
There are a variety of treatment approaches that work. You might have heard of EMDR (eye momement desensitization and reprocessing), and while I do not do *that* particular kind of trauma treatment, the approaches I am trained in are similar in how they work (cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure therapy). You can reclaim your life after trauma!
