What to Expect

Consultation Call

I offer a free 15 min consultation call, in which I will review the basics about how therapy with me will work. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and make an initial determination if I am the right therapist for you.

Intake Paperwork

If you decide to proceed, you will be sent an email inviting you to complete clinic paperwork. We can then schedule a 50-minute session, either in person or via telehealth. Using a computer for telehealth is ideal, but you should be able to use your phone or a tablet if a computer is not available. Having access to consistent WiFi is also preferred, to prevent tech lapses during session. Due to licensing requirements, you must be located in Arkansas or in one of the PSYPACT states (see map here) during each session.

The clinic paperwork will describe my policies about electronic communication, payment, and your privacy as a client.

Treatment Planning

In the initial few sessions, we will collaborate on a treatment plan, which will involve you describing the goals that you want to achieve. If you want a formal diagnostic evaluation, I can do that as well. Part of developing the treatment plan will also involve discussions about how you want to work on your problems. Most psychological/mental health issues can be approached from a variety of angles, and many treatment types are effective. We want to make sure you are on board with not only the goals for treatment, but the processes and procedures of treatment, too.

Scheduling

Therapy sessions are typically once per week, though you and Dr. Veilleux can talk about whether a more frequent (2x/week) or less frequent (every other week) schedule would work better for you.

Between Session "Work"

Because therapy sessions are only once a week, you have another six days and 23-hours of non-therapy time in between sessions. This in-between time is not "therapy free." Rather, this is the time for you to think about what discussed in session, try out new skills (some will work! some will flop!), and think about what you want to talk about next. The in-between time is the real work time of therapy. If you think your life and well-being will improve by only talking about, monitoring, or thinking about your problems  one hour per week, this is probably not the right treatment for you. You absolutely have a voice in deciding how you engage with your mental health in those in-between times, but some engagement is necessary.

Payment

Payment is due at time of service. I can take credit card or Venmo payments.

Questions and Concerns

If you ever have any questions or concerns, just ask! Therapy is often art, but is informed by science and doesn't have to be a mystery. This is your mental health being discussed, so you have the right to let us know if you are unhappy with the goals or processes used in treatment.
